Flight Sim Tour: Launching the FedEx MD-11 Expedition from Agadir to Dakhla

The long-awaited African cargo tour has officially launched! The journey kicked off at Agadir Al Massira Airport (GMAD) in Morocco, setting the stage for an ambitious multi-leg adventure across the continent. Piloting the heavy Rotate MD-11 in the iconic FedEx livery, this first leg marks the beginning of a grand flight simulation series.

Leg 1: Agadir (GMAD) ➔ Dakhla (GMMH)

Leaving Agadir behind, the tri-jet took to the skies, tracing the dramatic coastline where the Atlantic Ocean meets the sands of the Sahara.

Key Highlights of the Flight:

  • Departure from Agadir (GMAD): Precision pre-flight setup, heavy fuel and payload planning, and a powerful takeoff run using the GE CF6 engines.

  • Coastal Cruise: Cruising southbound along the Atlantic coastline, offering stunning visual perspectives over the Moroccan desert terrain.

  • Arrival at Dakhla (GMMH): Navigating the descent into Dakhla, managing crosswinds off the ocean, and smoothly landing the widebody freighter onto the runway.

The Aircraft: Rotate MD-11 Cargo

Executing this first leg with the Rotate MD-11 delivered a true pilot's experience. From monitoring the Flight Management Computer (FMC) to handling realistic flight dynamics and engine sounds, starting the tour with this legendary tri-jet sets a high bar for all upcoming stages.

What’s Next?

With the MD-11 safely on the ground at Dakhla, the tour is off to a strong start. Stay tuned for the upcoming legs as we continue pushing further south into West Africa!
